Funded by Health Canada and distributed to over 700,000 Canadian households by direct mail, the bilingual interactive guide has attracted more than 46,000 users and generated over 470,000 pageviews since its October 2022 launch

TORONTO, Ontario — February 2026 — Manyways Inc., the company behind Decision Support Platform Wayfinder, has partnered with Scout Environmental to design and launch test4radon.ca — a bilingual, public-facing digital interactive guide designed to help Canadian homeowners understand the risks of radon gas, test their homes, and take action when results warrant mitigation. The initiative was funded with the support of Health Canada and developed in collaboration with Toronto-based design agency PIVOT Design.

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas produced by the decay of uranium in soil and rock. It is the leading environmental cause of lung cancer in non-smokers in Canada, responsible for an estimated 3,200 deaths annually — yet it is invisible, odourless, and entirely undetectable without a dedicated test kit. Despite the established health risk, awareness among Canadian homeowners remains low, and testing rates fall well below national public health targets. test4radon.ca was built to close this gap: translating Health Canada’s evidence-based guidance into a structured, self-serve digital experience that any Canadian homeowner can navigate independently, without specialized knowledge or the need to contact a professional.

The experience at test4radon.ca walks users through a guided series of questions and decision points, helping them determine whether their home type and geographic location present elevated risk, how to obtain and correctly use a radon test kit, how to interpret their results, and what certified mitigation options are available if levels are found to be elevated. The decision logic underlying the experience is encoded directly in the Wayfinder platform as a deterministic model — every combination of user inputs produces a consistent, precise response grounded in Health Canada’s official recommendations, without relying on probabilistic AI inference. The experience is fully bilingual in English and French, meets WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility standards, and is optimized for use on any device.

Scout Environmental managed all content creation and led the national distribution campaign, which included a direct-mail postcard initiative reaching over 700,000 households across Canada — directing recipients to the site and prompting them to take action on radon testing. Since its October 2022 launch, test4radon.ca has attracted more than 46,000 unique users and generated over 470,000 pageviews, demonstrating meaningful and sustained public engagement with one of the most underaddressed environmental health risks in Canadian homes.

“Radon is one of the most serious and most overlooked home health risks in Canada. This project gave us the opportunity to take trusted public health guidance and turn it into something a homeowner could actually act on — independently, confidently, and without needing to call anyone.” — Steph Bigue, Founder & CEO, Manyways Inc.

test4radon.ca was built on the Manyways Wayfinder platform, which enables organizations to encode complex expert knowledge into structured, visual decision models and publish them as self-serve digital experiences. For this engagement, Manyways handled all front-end development and final technical implementation, deploying the experience across up to 25 bilingual content nodes. PIVOT Design — a Toronto-based design agency — was responsible for all visual design and user experience design. Scout Environmental produced and managed the content, ensuring alignment with national public health guidance, while Health Canada provided both program funding and advisory services on the accuracy and appropriateness of all content delivered through the tool.

The Wayfinder platform’s built-in server-side analytics suite generates monthly performance reports, enabling Scout Environmental and Manyways to track user engagement and content performance over time. The platform’s no-code content authoring system allows Scout Environmental to manage updates to the experience without requiring ongoing development resources — ensuring the guide can remain current as Health Canada’s radon guidance evolves. The site continues to operate at www.test4radon.ca.
